History and introduction

WestEnd City Center was built on a reclaimed railway and industrial site right next to the largest traffic junction of the capital city in an area partly overlapping the railway station that was designed by Gustav Eiffel’s office and built between 1874 and 1877. The largest commercial, office and hotel complex of the country has an area of over 200,000m2. WestEnd City Center is easy to access by Metro, tram, bus and trolleybus. Those driving can choose to park on 2 x three levels, in an outdoor car park and in an underground garage.

On an average basis 414,000 people pass by WestEnd City Center a day and 50,000 people visit.

220,000 people live in close proximity to WestEnd

7000,000 people live within a 5km vicinity of WestEnd

WestEnd City Center was completed in record time with only 370 days between the laying of the foundation stone and the opening ceremony. Some numbers include: 250,000m3 of earth removed; 8,000m2 of cutoff walls, 2,600m2 of anchor plate concrete; 83,000m3 structural concrete; 11,000 tons of reinforcing bars; 60,000 precast floor slabs; 230,000m2 casings; 31,000m2 paving; 186km mechanical engineering pipes; 534km electric wiring and 13,500m2 of glass surfaces.

Two-thirds of the new city centre offers commercial and entertainment services, but as a unique feature the building offers office spaces on one-third of its area, where a five-star HILTON HOTEL is also located with 230 world-class rooms.

The ambitious architectural solutions of the building provide a remarkable experience to both Hungarian and foreign visitors. A roof garden with thousands upon thousands of flowers, bushes and trees offers a natural experience and opportunities for a good walk or just to relax in - all within the heart of the city just above the railway tracks. There is another relaxing park over the commercial areas of the building, providing a venue for a large number of programmes and events. Children can enjoy an ice rink during the winters and a playground during the summers.

The building, roof gardens and marketleading campaign has garnered serious recognition – we are very proud of our various significant international awards from professional bodies as well as a large number of domestic and international prizes.

First impressions made two things very obvious: unlike in Western-European and overseas centres, it is immediately apparent that a lot of people are in the building. The giant Niagara Falls-like fountains, the pleasant squares and streets, the cleanliness, the good air and the thousands of live plants and flowers signal to our visitors that the “world has turned around in Budapest as well” The combined selection of 400 shops, well-prepared shop assistants and cooperativeness of Hungarian and international companies have a very positive effect on the customers.

WestEnd City Center awaits its visitors with over 400 shops located on 3 levels.

- 200 fashion shops await customers with a selection of major brands;
